This week we announced that Numica has raised $21 million from Roosh X and Flashpoint Capital.
Fortune published a profile of Numica, and you can read about our vision and approach here.
If you own an accounting practice and you’ve started thinking about what comes next, this news is really about you. So we want to explain what it means.
What Numica does
We buy small accounting practices from owners approaching retirement, keep their staff and clients, and move the day-to-day work onto our own AI platform. For the client, the experience after the deal stays the same because the change happens behind the scenes.
When we talk to owners, we usually hear the same thing: most don’t want to stop seeing clients. They just want to stop running the business because of server outages, vendor bills, and hiring that gets harder every year.
So that’s the part we take on. From day one, we handle billing, hiring, and technical systems. The accountants your clients know stay in place. And you decide how involved you want to be: owners can stay on part-time to work with their longest-standing clients, under transition plans that can run up to four years. Most of the owners who joined us chose to do just that.
Why now
The U.S. has an estimated 87,000 accounting firms, and roughly 75% of CPAs are set to retire within 15 years, according to the AICPA. Most small-firm owners have no internal successor and no obvious buyer.
Meanwhile, most capital entering accounting goes to the largest firms. When a CPA retires and no one steps in, their clients are left on their own, and what clients really want is peace of mind.
How AI fits accounting
AI can now handle most of the repetitive operational work inside an accounting practice. That raises operational speed, creates capacity for new clients, and frees up staff time for human relationships.
Our platform codes transactions, builds financial statements, and prepares state, federal, sales, and payroll tax filings. A CPA still reviews and signs the final work.
How we approach acquisitions
We focus on firms with $0.7–5M in revenue, which are usually too small to attract traditional buyers.
Our model allows us to keep acquiring at pace. Since launching in June 2025, we’ve welcomed seven practices and now serve about 6,000 clients across New York, New Jersey, Florida, Texas, and California. They include restaurants, hair salons, trucking companies, dental practices, and other small businesses where relationships with the accountant often last for many years.
Numica is an AI-first company, and we’re relentless about automating every process we can. But what we value most is the client relationships that accounting firm founders have built over the years, even decades. Anyone who’s spent real time in this industry knows that trust and high-quality service are its best-kept secrets – that’s what we’re preserving.
What our investors say
“The US accounting industry is an exceptionally large and fragmented market that has historically been underserved by technology, creating a compelling opportunity for Numica’s AI-led approach. The team has already shown it can acquire established practices, preserve trusted client relationships, and materially improve performance. We first backed Numica as an equity investor, and this growth-debt facility gives the company a flexible capital structure and additional firepower to accelerate its acquisition strategy,” said Ilja Velickis, Associate Partner at Flashpoint Growth Debt.
We’re grateful to Roosh X and Flashpoint Capital for backing us.
Let’s talk
Accounting is a relationship business, and we think it should stay that way. Our job is to take work off your team’s plate, so the people your clients trust can spend more time with them.
